Women’s Safety in Public

Perceptions of safety change dramatically depending on the time of day. Here’s what women shared:

  • Daytime safety: 47% feel safe, 13% unsafe, and 41% neutral

  • Night-time safety: confidence drops sharply - only 6% feel safe, while 66% feel unsafe, and 28% are neutral

  • Key measures to improve safety:

    • Increased police presence – 47%

    • Stronger laws & harsher penalties – 34%

    • Public awareness campaigns – 9%

    • Safety apps with reporting tools/resources – 6%

    • Better street lighting – 3%

💡 Insight: The findings highlight a stark day-to-night safety gap. While visibility and policing are seen as top priorities, there’s also appetite for stronger laws, awareness campaigns, and technology-driven solutions to create safer public spaces for women.
