imabi is imabi is proud to announce a new collaboration with The Liam Taylor Legacy, helping make lifesaving bleed control kits easier to locate through the Travel Guardian app and wider imabi platform.
Founded by Julie Taylor in memory of her grandson Liam, who tragically lost his life to knife crime in Essex in 2020 at just 19 years old, The Liam Taylor Legacy is dedicated to raising awareness of knife crime and improving access to emergency bleed control equipment.
Since Liam's death, Julie has worked tirelessly to turn personal tragedy into meaningful action, helping communities become better prepared to respond to life-threatening emergencies.
What Are Bleed Control Kits and Why Are They Important?
When someone experiences a serious injury resulting in catastrophic bleeding, every second matters. Severe blood loss can become life-threatening within minutes, making immediate intervention vital while emergency services are on their way.
Bleed control kits contain specialist first aid equipment designed to help manage severe bleeding, including trauma dressings, bandages and tourniquets. Some also contain chest seals, protective gloves and other emergency supplies.
Although often associated with knife crime, these kits can also be invaluable following road traffic collisions, serious falls, workplace accidents and other traumatic injuries.
Increasing their availability in public places such as shops, pubs, community venues and transport locations helps give bystanders access to potentially lifesaving equipment when it is needed most.
In an emergency, calling 999 remains the first priority, with ambulance call handlers able to provide guidance on accessing and using equipment.
Making Lifesaving Equipment Easier to Find
Through this collaboration, imabi is working to incorporate The Liam Taylor Legacy's bleed control kit locations into the Travel Guardian app's mapping features, making it easier for members of the public to identify where this potentially lifesaving equipment is available.
The Legacy has already helped make approximately 800 bleed control kits available across Essex, with the equipment contributing to lives being saved and communities becoming better prepared for emergencies.
By bringing these locations into Travel Guardian, the collaboration aims to build on Julie's remarkable work, increasing awareness and helping more people locate vital emergency resources.
Julie's determination to turn the devastating loss of Liam into something that could save others is truly remarkable. We're incredibly proud to stand alongside her and The Liam Taylor Legacy, helping make these vital resources easier to find and more accessible to those who may one day need them.
Nothing can undo the loss of Liam, but through Julie's extraordinary work, his memory continues to protect others.
We are honoured to play a part in helping that legacy reach even more people.
